Disgruntled renter
It all started the week I moved in. After a few days there I came out to my car one morning to find a note on my windshield that read, "KEEP THE FUCKING NOISE DOWN!" I was pissed to say the least. I wouldn't have minded a nicer written note, but this one had me going. Which neighbor did it? I was mad at all of them. I later noticed that my passenger door had been keyed below my mirror! I don't tend to have any enemies. I felt sure it was the tenants in 9906. Since then I've had the cops called on me twice. Mind you, I never had a single complaint during my 13 month lease at my other apartment! Both of those times it was just Jamie and myself there. The last time we weren't loud at all! We were sitting at my bar, talking, and I had music on upstairs with the bass turned down. This was around midnight on a Friday. I even asked the cop if it was really that loud as I didn't bother to turn it down before answering my door. He smiled and pointed down.
All this is enough to make you feel like you have to walk on eggshells in your own apartment. To add insult to injury, I got a message yesterday to call and schedule an appointment with the property manager to discuss these complaints! I haven't called to set the appointment yet, but after tonight...I think I will do just that. I got a letter at my door today from the apartments. It is the second of it's kind that I've received. They call it a "14 Days Notice to Cure." Basically it says I have 14 days to not have any complaints or they'll evict me. These assholes are just miserable with themselves. They're older and live in an apartment smaller than mine. He works and she stays in all day with nothing better to do than complain. They haven't had a single visitor since I moved in. I have many questions for the property manager. I want to know how long my apartment was vacant before I moved in. I want to know how long they've been there and when their lease is up. My friend parked in the parking space next to mine tonight. The spaces have our addresses painted on them, which is really idiotic since there aren't many apartments, spaces, or long distances from the apartments to the lot. I knew that this bastard had called the cops on the girl that just moved in because someone helping her move had parked in HIS spot! I had a feeling that there would be a note on Rob's car when we got back tonight. Sure enough! It was the same paper used in the first note with the same sloppy handwriting. This one was just as hateful: "YOU ARE IN MY SPOT ASSHOLE! DON'T DO IT AGAIN." I started to call the cops then and say I've been threatened. I just don't take pride in disputes and drama so I decided against it. I did decide to stay the night at the parents' though. I didn't want to risk my car being keyed again.
At this point, eviction sounds like music to my ears! Not to mention money in my pocket! I'm fed up. I'm not that loud. When this all started I moved my stereo up to the loft to get it off the floor. These people just want to try and make me as miserable as they are. Before I leave...I want to get some nice wind chimes for my balcony for my final days. Why pay $730 a month when jail is free? That's what this feels like to me; a prison cell!
I really wish I could've got to that girl that just moved in next to them before she signed her lease! I'm sure she'll have more run-ins with them as well. She should've went to apartmentratings.com!

That really sucks!... sorry for your whoes kiddo. Guess that's one of (one of many) reasons I've never lived in an apartment and hope I never have to!
The only thing I can say in your neighbors defense... sometimes it doesn't matter that you're not deliberately making excessive noise... just regular movements in your apartment funnel down to their apartment and can be very annoying.
I hated going to visit my s-i-l at her apartment, as the people walking around above was just the most distracting thing!!! I was so very glad when she moved into a house.
ps,
just want to make sure you understand I'm not taking your neighbors side... they certainly could've handled the situation a little nicer.
If you're paying that much in rent, I think I'd just go on and try to find a small house to rent or buy!
Well if you do end up moving, WE are going to do some serious revenge on those anal busy bodies! You should tell your apartment manager that in the future they should include "NO MUSIC WHATSOEVER" in the lease because evidently you can't even listen to it at a low volume. Maybe those jerks are just trying to see if they CAN get you evicted because they have nothing else better to do with their pitiful lives.
*in the meantime stock up on eggs..."I'm the driver this time!"
Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm just lucky I have cool parents to go back to in the event I pack up my bags and take off down the road!
Or if you like, I could find you a house to buy since I spend every spare moment of my time searching on semonin.com!
